In-plant cleaning

Hydra-Cell pumps saved substantial money for a seafood processor in Washington State.  An old Pitot tube pump was replaced with a Hydra-Cell D-35 for in-plant cleaning.  Since installation of the D-35, there has been a reduction in both operating and repair costs.

The Hydra-Cell is pumping 30 gpm (114 l/m) at 1000 psi (69 bar) directly coupled to a 30 HP (22kW) motor (26 BHP required).

But that doesn't tell the whole story.  The Pitot tube pump, due to the mass of the rotor and start-up torque, is intended to run continuously at a fixed speed.  But the customer now has the option of coupling any Hydra-Cell pump to a variable frequency drive and have it run intermittently, matching its speed to demand.  It would then run only as fast as required to feed individual guns as they are used.  That would provide additional energy savings not possible with the original pump.
