Almost £2,000 has been raised for a Farnham family affected by cancer. AFC Farnham Vets organised the charity football tournament to raise the money, which took place at Wrecclesham Football Club on Sunday August 6th.

The charity tournament was supported by 18 local teams, including vets (over 35s) and teams specifically assembled for the event. There was a raffle with great prizes, including a helicopter flight for two over London and a signed West Brom shirt.

The winner of the plate tournament was Church Crookham based Wanner International, which also gave a donation.

Tim Marshall, Customer Services Manager at Wanner International, is a regular player at AFC Farnham Vets and for this event was loaned to the Wanner team, under special conditions – no restrictions on the opposition. He said:

“This was a fantastic day where the football was competitive and fun. We are pleased we won the plate tournament and, more importantly, we raised a lot of money to help one of our teammate’s family at a very difficult time. That’s how Sunday league teams operate - we look out for each other.
