Multiple Diaphragms in a Single Pump Head - API 675 Pumps

Accurate Smooth Flow Metering and Dosing

Combining the output of 3 or 5 diaphragms operating in sequence in a single pump head results in a smooth discharge flow with Hydra-Cell® Metering & dosing pumps. As a result, this significantly reduces pressure pulsations and flow variations resulting in accuracy and more consistent delivery of chemical. Especially important when metering and dosing pumps are injection chemicals into a continuous liquid stream.

Compact Design

Hydra-Cell® Metering & Dosing pumps combining the output of 3 or 5 diaphragms operating in sequence in a single pump head results in a more compact design for a given flow rate. This advantage gets larger as flow rate and discharge pressure requirements increase.

Lower Acceleration Head Losses

The acceleration head losses (Ha) on the suction of a Metering and Dosing pump can affect the reliability and cost of running the pump, especially in process plants with long suction lines.

Combining the output of 3 or 5 diaphragms operating in sequence in a single pump head dramatically reduces acceleration head losses. For example

The loss constant C used to calculate Ha is:

  1. 0.628 for a single pumping element
  2. 0.066 for a Hydra-Cell 3 diaphragm arrangement,
  3. 0.04 for a Hydra-Cell 3 diaphragm arrangement.

Elimination of Pulsation Dampeners

Pulsation dampeners add cost not only to the initial installation and acquisition but more importantly to maintenance costs.

Hydra-Cell® Metering and Dosing pumps smooth discharge flow eliminates the need to pulsation dampeners in 99% of installations, eliminating pipe strain and leaking flanges saving costs all round.
