A very important part of the Crude Oil transfer in the US is the transfer of ownership from the extraction company to the collection and processing company. The LACT (Lease Automatic Custody Transfer) unit not only transfers the crude oil but also measures the volume transferred; the extraction company will then get paid on the volume measured.
