Injection of Alkali-Surfactant-Polymer (ASP) solution is carried out by 14 injection wells through two injection manifolds installed within the plant. Each injection manifold has 7 injection lines. Each injection line is provided with individual reciprocating pumps for injection.

The only maintenance required in three years has been the recommended oil changes.

Process Challenges

  • Stability of the injected polymer viscosity, matching the reservoir oil viscosity for maximum pressurising and “pushing” effect
  • Keep polymer usage costs to a minimum - minimising shear degradation and zero leakage of polymer
  • To keep the polymer solution free from oxygen to stop polymer degradation
  • Capability to vary volume of injected polymer over a wide range of values as well conditions change
